Miscellaneous (and marvelous) things for Monday:
I’m obsessed with cherries.
-
They were on sale for $1.49 a pound. So I bought 8lbs, naturally.
-
And I bought a cherry pitter, after doing research on the best one to buy – it pits 4 at a time and doesn’t spit cherry juice all over your kitchen, and my husband only momentarily thought I was a wacko for buying such a gadget. And I had a $5 coupon.
-
It took an hour to pit one of the three bags of cherries – I froze most of them and made a batch of Mama Pea’s Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies.

On the topic of making iced coffee at home to save money, I froze some leftover (weak) coffee in ice cube trays then blended it up with stevia and almond milk. Mmm.

A friend at work loves the Starbucks Oatmeal but never uses the nuts they give her – so she passes them along to me! I took a bunch of the packages I hadn’t already snacked on and turned them in to a delicious mixed nut butter this weekend (almonds, walnuts, and pecans), with a bit of vanilla and salt – I could have eaten the entire batch.

One of Adam’s family friends gifted us with some home grown squash and swiss chard yesterday when we stopped by to visit (mixed in with some random groceries from Bottom Dollar).

It was my first time experimenting with swiss chard but I used it in stuffed shells for dinner last night and it was delicious.

I got these workout tanks for $0.97 cents piece, then had a 30% discount, so they were about $0.70 / each. Seriously. Deal of the weekend.

Happy belated birthday to one of my favorite blog friends, Laura! I made a twist on her breakfast tart (which she adapted from Tessa) and I’ll be sharing it on Breakfast Food Friday.
It’s like cheesecake, for breakfast, packed with protein and fiber. Win, win, win.
Tell me something miscellaneous or marvelous about your Monday or your weekend!

Oh so very smart to use those leftover nuts to make a nut butter blend. Yummmmy!
Hmm marvelous today? I’m leaving work in 2.5 hours
wow I love those shirts! I am such a fan of cherries and am mad at myself for not buying them when they were on sale. Come on alex!

I really need to remember to freeze leftover coffee. That is such a great idea!!
I am totally obsessed with cherries too! They’re so good right now! That breakfast tart looks fabulous too
Glad to see you finally included the picture of those cherries
haha
Man oh man, that frozen iced coffee thingamajig looks fantastic! The only problem is that I don’t own an ice cube tray– my family has an automatic ice maker. Hmmm, maybe I’ll just have to replace the water that it uses to make ice with coffee

Had a Marvelous weekend
Had a Birthday celebration for my sons 18th B-Day. Made a Blueberry Buckle. (Alton Brown Food Network).
It’s the ultimate cross between cake (your fav) and a cookie bar.
It burst with blueberries.
Have a marvelous week.
Thanks for the shout out, I am so thrilled to hear you tried that tart out! I actually want to try Laura’s version soon, and I am psyched to see what you come up with
A cherry pitter has been on my “to buy” list forever. I need to bite the bullet.
I am so glad you tried the tart and liked it! It’s on my menu again this week for breakfast. Can’t wait to see your interpretation on Friday!
Cherries are cheap there! I went bankrupt buying some organic cherries this weekend.
We bought cherries too. I’m not a big fan because I dislike dealing with the pit. Thanks for researching a pitter so I don’t have to!
