Good morning! Sharing more beach eats with you today thanks to Jenn’s WIAW theme: summer staples. Jenn posted about the beautiful cherries she’s been eating – hopefully she sees my microwave cherry cobbler!

Healthy Breakfast Staples

My family loves to go out to breakfast (especially on vacation), so I tried to balance out heavy breakfasts with light lunches, or light breakfasts on days we stayed in. Clockwise from top left: whole grain toast with almond butter and bananas, cherries with yogurt and granola, fresh peaches with yogurt and cereal, or my go-to dining out choice: egg white veggie omelet, which seemed to always be served WITH 2 pancakes – still better than grits, the alternative.
Staple healthy summer snack

Baby carrots with guac – great to have on hand for pre-dining out hunger.
Staple healthy summer dinner

Grilled Chilean sea bass with mango salsa and fresh veggies at Bonefish Grill. So amazing, but not quite as good as Bistro 19′s sea bass.
Beach Vacation Staples

Beautiful sunrises, tropical cocktails (rum punch – amazing), the view of the beach from my lounge chair at the pool, and our stuffed refrigerator – even though we ate 95% of our meals out.
Thanks, Mom & Dad, for a great week in Myrtle.
What are your staple healthy breakfasts or healthy dinners in the summer? Are they different than your healthy favorites in the fall or winter?

Yum! Looks like a great vacation with amazing eats! Sea bass is my all time favorite fish.

My summer staples include lots of fresh fruits, fish and veggies, and of course… homemade white sangria.

I want to start a sea bass club. But I think it’s endangered?! White sangria sounds great right about now!
I need to try that guacamole. I am so interested in it.
It’s perfect portion control and really tasty!
My staple healthy dinner in the summer is a sort of salsa/chopped salad hybrid. We chop as many veggies as possible, add beans, and toss with salad dressing. No cooking, which is a blessing during this heat

Sounds AMAZING – I love dishes like that but I’m usually to lazy to chop all the veggies. Maybe this week!
My staple breakfast is overnight oats – thought I eat that year round
. My staple summer veggies are definitely zucchini and summer squash!

Can’t go wrong with oats! I have a monster zucchini to use up – any favorite recipes?
My staple healthy summer dish is whatever veggies I have on hand mixed with a little olive oil and then tons of spices wrapped in foil, cooked on the grill. Always so yummy and so simple!

Ugh, I’m so mad we haven’t bought gas for our grill yet!
I am in love with that wholly guac. I used to add it to everything when I wasn’t getting enough fats!

I’m probably getting too many!
I have a drink-in-hand-ass-in-sand mantra for most vacations

I love going out for breakfast too! We usually go out to eat quite a bit while on vacation too, so I’ll balance the bigger meals (when we go out) with one or two smaller “snacky” meals.

Love those guac packets! Homemade is the best, but these are amazing in a pinch, and to travel with.
Thank goodness for 100-calorie packets of guacamole! I have no portion control when it comes to anything made with avocado.
It looks like you did a great job finding healthy options at restaurants. The Chilean Sea Bass sounds amazing; there’s a Bonefish Grill in Boise, but I’ve never been. I think I’ll try to go before I head back to DC!
